Extending mutual microinsurance to 5 million uninsured households in five countries over five years.

New video showcasing partnership between The Co-operators and Uplift Mutuals through the 5-5-5 Strategy

The Co-operators (Canada) have produced an inspiring video to showcase how they are working cooperatively with Uplift Mutuals (India) to bring affordable health insurance to low-income families through the ICMIF 5-5-5 Mutual Microinsurance Strategy. The Co-operators have provided both financial and technical support to Uplift Mutuals to assist them with reaching their target of protecting over half a million lives with health microinsurance.

Speaking in the video, Kumar Shailabh, Uplift Mutuals said: "The sheer fact that Uplift has been able to exist is a testimony to the fact that we have succeeded in making grounds-up solutions work, and the biggest change that Uplift has been able to bring is that communities, families and women who have had no access to health protection for the first time have got it.”

Rob Wesseling, President and Chief Executive Officer confirms: "The Co-operators and Uplift share a common purpose and we share a common set of cooperative and mutual principles and that binds us together despite the fact that we operate in very different environments, we serve very different members but at our core we are there to provide financial security for the communities that we serve."
